it’s a new century - and now here
I ask of you just this, only this
just one small question - and
only answer if you’re okay with it
I ask of you to stay -
to dwell with me just a little longer
drawing out the minutes and hours
stretching out smiles as we grow fonder
it’s a new kind of summer
- and we are lost in each other
only because we’re both exhausted -
from chasing after fictional colours
because, these are days of dry and drought
the last leaf has long crumbled to dust
we are spellbound by their stories and memories
about times with blue skies and green grass
i ask you to stay in this dark world
even as we are suffocated by both -
the ceaseless heat and infinite darkness
a stifling stagnation, so far from growth
it’s the turn of the century - and now hear
the sounds of contemplation and conversation
questioning why we didn’t stay at home
all the time and places in the world are wasted
I ask of you just this, only this
