i planted a garden inside my bed
i put dirt and seeds under my sheets
everyday i water and let it soak up the sun
and every night i gently put it to sleep
my pomegranate heart is leaky
my string bean bones are creased
eyes that are empty black seeds
reflect a body growing diseased
i will smooth over any disturbances
dig up the deepest of dark roots
i'm going to plant the freshest seeds
and harvest the sweetest fruits
maybe they won't notice the flowers
the flowers might attract some bees
let it all grow without being trimmed
shiny new bulbs and whimsical weeds
i take care of a garden in my bed
i am soothing my suffocation
a secret medication of reassurance
an unseen project in education
climbing up and over branches
a gradual progression skywards
don't look down past my feet
keep climbing towards the birds
with dirt wedged underneath my fingernails
the lines of my palms crusted in brown
curled up under a canopy of leaves
i hide and escape from all of sound
i put dirt and seeds under my sheets
everyday i water and let it soak up the sun
and every night i gently put it to sleep
my pomegranate heart is leaky
my string bean bones are creased
eyes that are empty black seeds
reflect a body growing diseased
