I put pen to paper and I weep
My eyes struggle to see
My lips begin to bleed.
The world at war around me
I watch - Silently
Zip up this flesh suit
Every morning - Then
Every night - lie in my bones
Shivering.
Ink flows from pen
My eyelashes blink
I hear the words whispering
They float around my bed.
They give me thirst when I wake up
They tickle me between my toes
Together, we pull the windows shut
And we draw the curtains close.
I press finger to key and I drown
The organs inside me – Creaking
The blood in my veins – Brown.
The light illuminates me
I am invisible
Click / save / mechanical syntax
Clockwork poetry row after row.
Across the page I smudge the ink
Across the world - let feathers fall
Erase the words - Delete it all
Cocooned in my safety
Wings surrounding me
My protection walls.
I put pen to paper – finger to key
Words into sentences – the story of me.
